SOLD OUT & SOARING (Seeking Empire)
Saturday, January 21st, 2012.
Bottom of the Hill, San Francisco, CA.
My activities the night of the 21st were lucky enough to take me to downtown San Francisco on the corner of 17th street to a small, pleasant venue (with slightly over priced drinks), but a good vibe and an even better line up for the night. Good job to all the bands who played, but I was still there for only one reason:...

the radio played our song, it was insane
(I apologize now for the lack of editing this has haha)
Up and coming bay area musicians, Seeking Empire, are an eclectic mix of musicians from other bands coming together with a rock inspired, yet eloquent sound. I first learned of Seeking Empire through my unfaltering love for Good Charlotte. Bassist (the ever so fabulous and kind hearted) Paul Thomas from GC is involved in the production and...

But I’m so happy that their new single is 1979. I really love that song, it’s definitely the best song on the album. It’s pretty beautiful in a really positive way and I love the way it contrasts with the song “Emotionless” (From The Young & The Hopeless). If you haven’t heard it, go here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pMLu1-HmkNw&ob=av2n

One More Tour in the Books
June 22nd
House of Blues, Myrtle Beach SC.
Another end to another tour. More goodbyes I can’t stand to say.
Although I didn’t go get to see the gator farm [that’s on my list for next time and my inner nerd is stoked], and despite the unfortunate heat, Myrtle Beach you were so, so good. I enjoyed the whole time being in you.
It was a bit of a late arrival in MB, but we were tired, heat...
No Sex, Norfolk
June 21st
Norfolk, VA. Norva.
Virginia is for lovers, indeed. We met some amazing people in this state and even down to the hotel we stayed at, which was lovely, super close to the venue, and one of the nicest hotels I’ve ever actually stayed in.
We didn’t get into Norfolk [supposedly pronounced without the L sound, so like Nor-FUCK haha] around 3 pm with our five hour drive from Baltimore...

A generation lost in themselves
These days, the younger generations are facing a big problem: themselves. Well, their sense of entitlement. A good chunk of those under 30 today are somehow believers, and in my opinion a lot of this is because we also so heavily and fervently seek instant gratification because we’re lazier with the assistance of technology—hell we rarely make normal phone calls anymore, but we feel like are...
Nine states a day keeps the doctor away
June 20th
Rams Head Live, Baltimore MD.
From leaving Indianapolis to going to Baltimore in less than a day, I managed to be in nine different states in just that time. Crazy, exhausting, but worth it. Started in Indy, went home to Michigan, layover in NY and South Carolina, up to Mass, through CT-NY again-New Jersey, Delaware and finally what feels like my second home in Maryland.
We didn’t even...
Reunited and it feels so good
June 18th
Indianapolis, IN. Egyptian Room.
Game on—tour is back and you sure as hell feel it leaving at 4am for a four hour drive to some random city for the show. It feels amazing despite the obvious wear that comes with it. I didn’t even get super excited until later in the day but I was stoked. Sadly, two and a half months is about the longest break I’ve gone without seeing Good Charlotte...
We Left Our Hearts in Milwaukee
In honor of the quickly approaching one year anniversary of one of the most memorable nights of my life. [June 11, 2010]—
I’ll remember it always like it was just yesterday. I never realized I hadn’t even posted about it, but we kept it under wraps for quite a while.
I can’t even begin to explain how much this day meant to me—and how much it still does. The love I have for this band reached an...

Mission Impossible: attempting to banish the...
I don’t quite understand the hatred in the music industry. It’s a strong and disgusting word and as a society we love to bring down any artist that we fail to have a personal preference for. Of course I can’t lie, throughout my younger years, I was plenty guilty of this crime—any music that wasn’t in or competed with my favorites was “awful, dumb, ridiculous” music that deserved no place in the...

Saying Goodbye One More Time |ANAHEIM|
March 28th
Anaheim
[…only a month late on the post]
The end of another GC tour came much too quickly, and in my once temporary home [still full heartedly my home otherwise] in Anaheim, Downtown Disney. We didn’t leave Sara’s until later and headed down to Orange County to send the last show off with all we had.
Had Rubio’s for lunch [mother effing NOM], met up in line with Jasmine’s...

Somehow my work schedule worked out to where I could make it out to the tail end of the tour…seeing as many of my girls were already set to go, how could I refuse the slap in the face telling me to go!? If the timing is right, I’m seizing it; I’m not going to live my life with a bunch of ‘what ifs’ because all the decisions I’ve made to travel have been worth it and given...

OH-IO
After another long day on the road we zoomed home to pick up Tiffany from my house and headed straight to Cleveland [have I stressed how much I hate driving yet? …too bad it’s always worth it] to meet the girls at the House of Blues. Just like an hour before doors we showed up to the cold ass city and it was so good seeing everyone again—-before the night was...

The drive from HELL |Toronto|
March 11th, Toronto
Okay, so after work I came home to the girls in my room and I couldn’t be happier. With my family, by that I mean my friends because they’re the best family I have, it’s like we never left each other and we can start back up immediately from where we left off….even if it’s only a week in between sightings. So I got home late and it was lightly snowing outside, we got all of our...

Washington DC
What an insane day. So last week when I found out I had Saturday and Sunday off, and could get out of work early the day of the show my mind went straight into booking mode and why wouldn’t I just book a flight and get a ticket? Of course. I’m insane and this band makes me crazy, and I still have not regretted a single decision.
Left work at 2pm on Friday, my flight left...

London, K! show 10 of 10.
And now it’s time to say goodbye…
It was an early start out to London from Birmingham, which had been such a great night. Finally got in to Camden town around 1030 or so, but there wasn’t anyone really in line so we got a really good spot and just sat there with mass amounts of our luggage until we could later check into our hostel. We got snacks, just sat and...

Birmingham K! show 9 of 10
FUCK, BHAM, YOU CRAZY. Kind of a bittersweet day to be honest, with it being the second to last show and so close to sending me back home. The night before we FINALLY got to enjoy a proper day off; went shopping, had dinner, rested, watched a film. It was magnificent, really. We didn’t even get into Birmingham until mid afternoon, but there was a huge mall...

Manchester K! show 8 of 10
Oh Manchester, I knew I loved you before I met you. A very nice city, where we got in mid afternoon but took the time to sleep and rest because we were in desperate need of it; our synchronized coughing was wearing us thin and nobody was feeling alright. Every time I coughed, I felt like someone was continuously punching me in the stomach and chest. Definitely...

Glasgow, K! show 7 of 10
Oh Glasgow. Arrived in the night before and saw FYS on the street a few times, y’know, just yelled “I LOVE FOUR YEAR STRONG” from the other side. Had a nice, very cheap vegan dinner at the Stereo café and stayed at a nice hostel, the Euro hostel, just right down the street from the city center and the venue…which was a bit on the darker side of town. Krisse and I...
A Pretty Rictor Show |Newcastle|
Feb 12th
Newcastle, K! show 6 of 10.
Oh Newcastle. We had to share a hostel dorm for the first time with two other people and while we didn’t really see them, I’m sure they hated us when we crawled in late at night and tried to “whisper” and that our shit was kind of everywhere because there wasn’t much place to put it. We got into town kind of early but we were just exhausted and growing more...
Show to Remember |Leeds|
Feb 11th
Leeds, K! show 5 of 10.
We arrived in Leeds later in the afternoon because of our trip from Cardiff and again just waited until doors. Our hotel was kick ass and so massive, we loved it and I just wanted to stay. Shell, Tez, and I went to wagamamas again and nomnomnom I want some of those back in the states. Like, legit, just letting everyone know here that when you’re vegetarian/vegan...
WALES! WALES! WALES! |Cardiff|
FEB 9th
Cardiff, show 4. BEST SHOW EVER.
Our night prior to this was spent resting just a little and exploring Cardiff. It was weird actually being in a different country while in another country, but mainly the language is what stumped me. That many constants together just doesn’t read in my mind obviously. It’s all Welsh to me.
What a gorgeous city though, perfect mix of old and new, super...
All In Good Fun |Bristol|
Feb 8th
Bristol, K! show 3 of 10.
Again, after leaving Norwich only that morning, we traveled across the entire country and ended up in Bristol [it was fucking cold] for our next show. We didn’t get in until late and decided once again just to show up after doors because the line was wrapped all the way around the corner. So we rested, which was needed, and found some food. I went into my first...

Norwich, K! show 2 of 10
Night two—total success. Insane crowd and amazing afterwards. Only my second night on the tour and I finally saw why people said UK crowds were so intense. We weren’t even in the pit and I was stoked on how loud, nuts, and into the crowd was. It was definitely a better crowd than SH and IT WAS THE BEST EVER BECAUSE THEY PLAYED THE CLICK AND I DIED. YEP. DIED.
It...
A good start to the K! tour|Southampton|
[A little overdue, but here’s the first night of the K! tour. All the shows to come soon.]
Kerrang! Show 1 of 10.
Jetlag is a bitch. Got to Southampton the night before the show a bit after 8 PM [but my internal clock is so screwed up it felt nothing like it]. Earlier in the day we roamed around London being tourists with Shell and just enjoyed it and walked all over everywhere to see a...

Ringing in the New Year with GC
What a crowd. At least 20,000 people strong in a very condensed area of downtown Grand Rapids. BUT OH, LET’S TALK ABOUT THE WEATHER. 53 degrees during their performance. INSANITY. We got so lucky because it had been raining earlier but it was like a nice fall night and felt amazing for us, so props to the weather for cooperating for once this year haha. I was just so so so happy to be with...

Cardiology in review
So, it’s only a few days from the U.S. release date, Nov.2nd, of Good Charlotte’s fifth studio album Cardiology. I’ve already had the CD on repeat for days, but I want to let you all know why. While, yes, it’s more than obvious Good Charlotte is my favorite band […you’d have to be blind to not notice that i.e. tattoos, cars, photos, friends], I’m going to give very honest opinions of all aspects...

weekend getaway
So, I wrote this sitting in a hotel room on the other side of the country. Cherry Hill, New Jersey is my weekend destination and of course, the reason for that is Good Charlotte. Once again I jumped on a plane and flew to the other side of the country for this band that has done so much for me and that I can’t see my life without—-and it feels so right and normal. Somewhere in my life’s...

another one for the books
Oh Chicago, what a crazy mess of a city you are—but thanks for hosting Good Charlotte last night. One of the more memorable [because they’re all memorable] and intense GC shows I’ve ever been to overall. Worth long drives, a bit of cash, and withstanding the unfortunate weather conditions; GC is always worth it.
So we’ll skip over the boring day for the most part—left early, made a long drive to...

looking back & looking up
9 shows. 20 days. 1 band.
1 month later.
It’s exactly one month from my very last show of the tour, Pittsburgh, and I can’t believe how quickly the time has passed and how empty my room is after going from five/six back to just one, well not counting my rat counterpart of course.
Even though it’s already done and over with, I know from here on out only amazing things can come from my love of this...
the coffee made us shake on those long drives
What an emotional roller coaster of a day Pittsburgh turned out to be. Starting out with a very long drive to a new state, with winding city roads and a GPS that only likes to pretend it knows where it’s going. Toss that in with city construction and unfriendly bridges that seem impossible to cross and we’re standing in the sweltering humid heat of Pittsburgh and running to the bathroom before...

you're so hot that i melted
Cincinnati—you were wonderful to us. The venue was pretty much right on the border with Kentucky and in the middle of a Coney Island and bumfuck nowhere Ohio, but overall—both show and after—probably the best show for us in the tour [there were some more special nights, but as a combined day, Cincy was fantastic].
The biggest problem was the HEAT. Talk about insanely hot! Just sitting down, and in...
'Ello Cleveland!
Running on no sleep, we continued our GC journey down to Ohio. Of course, like every other drive, our stops led us to be later than expected but we still arrived around 8:30am. We ended up parking super far away because the layout was etched with detour signs and back street alleys—but I was super classy and brushed my teeth in the parking lot like any good tour-goer.
While stopping to use the...

cops are out
After leaving our over the top Milwaukee show, we drove down to Chicago to spend the night in Lor’s hotel with her, which we were super grateful for. We were elated to see our girl, of course, and had a good night before crashing out completely from all the excitement of the Milwaukee show.
We slept in [amaazinggggggg], took our time to get ready and then decided we’d try to get lunch at this...
pictures ahoy
Here are some live photos from the shows—they haven’t been turning out very well, but it’ll be easier to get good shots when the shows are outside and the light is natural. I’m so excited!
The girls, Krisse an Tezzie, showed up today and it’s been so fun. I’m so beyond happy everyone is here and we’ll see Lor in just a few days as well. Tomorrow we start...
Like it’s her birthday…because it really was.
Our June 6th began right at 12:01, all of crowded around a table at Denny’s and singing the happy birthday/like it’s her birthday remix to Isa as she celebrated her 21st with us. She ordered her first American beer and hated the cat piss aftertaste.
[and one of the most exciting things was that when I put my shorts on this morning they were super loose compared to when I last put them on =)]

I haven't slept like all week
…Immediately after our amazing day in Vegas, we started our long drive to San Francisco. We did not, however, plan on it being 13 HOURS. Needless to say, our bodies hated us and we were more than mentally exhausted—but we made it there safe and started our day in the fog-filled city with changing in cars and Starbucks’ bathrooms. The rest of our morning was spent with two of us saving spots in...
what song is that from?
I honestly don’t have a single clue how to start to tell you about our perfect day. We spent our 13 hour car ride to San Francisco going over every missed detail ourselves, so buckle in for a long blog about the most perfect day.
If everyone could experience what we had, I’d be incredibly happy because just seeing the girls after this reaffirms that everything we’re doing is right. I never knew I...

I can’t even begin to tell what this very long day has entailed and how fantastic it has been. Day one and it feels like we’ve been together forever—this is such amazing therapy and I’ve been smiling nonstop [my cheeks actually hurt].
Lor and I were reunited this morning and immediately all the feelings of a show and a tour family came pouring back. After a grueling flight, we landed in Vegas and...
the starting line
Welcome.
Here I sit, just hours away from embarking on my month long journey. Some say we’re crazy and foolish, while others think we’re dedicated and lucky. I think we’re all of those and more.
Life hasn’t been easy lately with a few tragedies and continuing problems, but life never is. I’m lucky enough to kind of escape real life for a bit and indulge myself in the “tour atmosphere”. I’m elated...
